Senior Pastor - Second Missionary Baptist Church Licensed and Ordained Minister. True believer in God’s Word. Must have a clear understanding of Church Doctrine. Responsibilities Provide a balanced overview of the whole counsel of God. Dealing with doctrinal issues that may need particular attention. Apply biblical principles to moral, ethical and political issues. Ensure that encouragement, reproof and correction are in balance. Conduct baptisms and oversee memberships. Give opportunity for people to respond to gospel message / accept Christ. Administer / conduct the Lord’s Supper. Preach Sunday Worship Services (11:00am), Bible Study, and New Member Classes. Strong supporter of the Ministry of Christian Education. Strong in Evangelism. Disciple, equip and teach the congregation to train believers in the basics of the Christian life so that they may be assimilated into the congregation, grow and reproduce to impact their homes, church and community. Disciple new believers. Provide leadership development opportunities. Equip congregation to disciple others. Train, organize and lead members to do visitation of and witnessing unsaved people. Set example in cultivating unsaved people. Lead church in planning regular outreach / revival emphasis. Provide advice and supportive resources to the wider community. Minister and visitation to ill and bereaved members. Lead congregation in planning, conducting and evaluating its local, national and worldwide missions. Maintain contact with all church and community supported initiatives. Lead church to develop policies that would help members participate in an orderly and deliberate manner, demonstrating spirit of unity. Oversee worship service in collaboration with the Music Ministry. Consistently connect with deacons, ministers, colleagues and resource persons. Provide leadership / workshop development opportunities. Provide training to associate ministers. Lead mission to grow God's Kingdom according to His Word. Lead vision to change lives through God's Word. Qualifications Must be a born again baptized believer in Jesus Christ. Love for God. Lead members to trust and love God so that they desire to serve Him. Lead the members to love one another and their neighbors. Encourage stewardship, missions support and tithing. Be innovative to move the church forward. Strong knowledge of the Bible. Skilled in biblical teaching. Skilled in biblical preaching. Demonstrated community involvement. Diversity minded. Vision for growing church membership that is educated in the work of God and strong in relationship with Christ, particularly a vision, commitment and experience for increasing the numbers and spiritual development of youth, young adults and adults in the congregation. Able to keep confidentiality. Counseling trouble people and those in need. Spiritual counseling of church members. Moral integrity must be above reproach. Conflict resolution. Ensure that prayer has a prominent place both in the church and in personal lives. Work with Church Leadership in maintaining a spiritually healthy church. Pastor selected must reside or be willing to commute to Terre Haute, IN. Be mission minded. Educational Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required.
